Requirements & FAQ
Submissions for the symposium may be from any academic discipline, including, but not limited to, anthropology, economics, history, linguistics, literature, philosophy, political science, religion, and sociology.
Submissions should be academic papers between 15-40 pages. The submission should also include an abstract of no longer than 300 words.
What type of file should I send?
Please send us your paper and abstract in a Microsoft Word document. We should be able to edit the submission to ensure that your name does not appear on the paper for our anonymous review process.
How many papers may I submit?
You are allowed to submit as many papers as you would like. However, only one may be chosen to be presented at the Symposium.
How will my paper be reviewed?
We have worked to ensure that the review process is completely anonymous. The Review Board will receive a copy of your paper without your name. Reviewers will judge papers based on two criteria:
- Quality of the research and potential for further development
- Presentation quality: Will the paper topic be of interest to an undergraduate audience? How will the paper coalesce on in a panel-style presentation?
When will I be notified of the decision?
You will be notified of our decision in late-February of the Symposium year.
Do you accept papers on Southeast Asia?
Yes, we are looking for an array of disciplinary and regional representation in the Symposium. Our goal is to promote intraregional dialogue; Southeast Asia is crucial to this aim.
